page 46 of John McPhee's Annals of the Former World, from Basin and Range
I've been stuck on this page of McPhee's book for several months. It is truly incredible what this landscape is doing. In attempts to better grasp it, I've been trying to imagine and draw it for myself (it is harder than one might think). For now my drawings are inadequate for public consumption, but after some online searches last night I've found two pretty amazing visualizations that I'd like to share. I'll hold off on posting them to provide some time for your imagination to give it a try too.
