"Agriculture is an underpinning of our culture. The irrepressibility of life on a farm continually manifests in myriad splendid expressions of life. This glorious unfolding provides us with the sustenance of food, while endlessly nourishing the creative spirit."
- Farmer John website
Last night I watched The Real Dirt on Farmer John. It struck a cord since it takes place in my home state of Illinois, where my family once farmed. Today very few family farms still survive there. The film also celebrates the deep and creative relationships that can unfold between humans, food and the land.
For those of you without a couple hundred acres, try growing a little something in your front lawn - build an Edible Estate.
